Challenges and Desires:

The customer grew up in a big family with lots of family meals on a big table. Ever since his parents passed away, those gatherings did not happen anymore and he was grieved by that. When he had to take down an ash tree because it was dying, he had it cut up and put in his garage thinking that he could build a big family dining room table one day.

He realized that he did not have the tools needed or the knowledge to build a long-lasting table, especially one that could seat at least 12 people like he wanted. That’s when he reached out to us.

The homeowner had been impressed with our quality craftsmanship which he had seen in previous projects for his employer. This led him to entrust us with the creation of a table he wanted to be able to pass down for generations. Our commitment to longevity and attention to detail aligned with his vision.

Consultation Process:

After contacting us, we set up a time to collaborate at our shop, looking at the salvaged ashwood he wanted to use. With confidence in our expertise, the homeowner entrusted us with full creative freedom, allowing us to craft a design tailored to his needs. To ensure the homeowner's satisfaction, we crafted multiple samples, refining the design until it was just what he wanted.

Overcoming Challenges:

With the wood supplied being thinner than ideal, our team had to reinforce the table using metal C channels, preventing warping and ensuring durability.

Noteworthy Details:

The table's versatility shines through the ability to add extra leaves, providing flexibility for future gatherings. Our innovative pull-out mechanism and distinctive "floating" leg design further elevate its functionality and aesthetic appeal, setting it apart as a true one-of-a-kind piece.

In the end, I asked them if the table turned out the way they expected and they both looked at me and said that we exceeded all expectations! They love it and can’t wait to have family dinners again.
